Editorial Policy

Every page starts with official data — government electricity rates and published appliance specifications — not opinions. The WattItCost Team researches each appliance category, builds the calculator around the standard cost formula (wattage × hours × rate), and writes the supporting guides from that same data. We do not publish claims we cannot trace to a source.

Some pages include affiliate links, which may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate partnerships never influence calculator results or which products we mention. Calculations come from the formula and the data — nothing else. See our Affiliate Disclosure page for details.

Electricity rates are reviewed quarterly, when the EIA and Ofgem publish new figures. When rates change, every calculator, table, and example on the site updates from the same central data file. Guides are re-reviewed on the same cycle.

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Send corrections to hello@wattitcost.com. Verified errors are corrected promptly, and material corrections are noted on the affected page.
